Lot No. 834. A Large Bowie Knife. Single edged blade marked -Graveley & Wreaks New York- The silver crossguard marked -Tiffany & Co-. Horn grip with eagle pommel. In its original leather scabbard with white metal mounts. The locket engraved -Camp Alexis Red Willow Creek 1872- The centre with embossed Russian double headed eagle. Minor staining to blade. Grade 3 plus. Bld.10 ins. The inscription on the locket relates to the last great buffalo hunt on January 12th 1872 at Red Willow Nabraska in which Grand Duke Alexis (The Fourth Son of Czar Alexander II) was chief guest accompanied by Gen. Phil. Sheriden, Buffalo Bill Cody, General George Armstrong. Custer and Chief Spotted Tail.

The bronze breech numbered -95287- with steel flip-over mechanism operating the automatic extractor. Back action lock dated -1860-.
