Birmingham proofs and foliage engraving at the mouth. The top strap engraved - JAs. Purdey 314.5 Oxford St. London -. within scrolls. Five shot cylinder with "rope" knurled front. Charcoal blued frame engraved with foliage, No 18606t and - W. Tranters patent - stamp. See-saw arbour pin latch and horizontal safety. Engraved pivoted rammer also with oval. Chequered walnut grip. In its original mahogany case lined in blue baize. Accessories include a Hawksley pistol powder flask with nicely engraved foliage on both sides of the body. Brass tranters patent double cavity bullet mould, patent bullet tin, ebony clearing rod, turn screw and nipple key, oil bottle and cap tins. Some staining, about Grade 2 with 50% original charcoal finish to frame. Brl.6".

Six shot cylinder with Birmingham Proofs. The frame engraved with scroll foliage. Pivoted rammer and chequered walnut grip with engraved butt cap. In its original mahogany case lined in blue baize. Accessories include a fine bag shaped powder flask with screw-off top. Brass bullet mould marked -WD-. (William Davis). Rosewood clearing rod, oil bottle and later turn screw. Speckled rust staining. Lot No. 645 A FINE QUALITY CASED Pair of 16 bore Percussion Duelling Pistols Circa 1800 by H.W.Mortimer & Co London. Browned octagonal twist barrels with brass dovetailed foresights. The top flats engraved -H.W.Mortimer & Co, London, Gun-Makers to His Majesty-. Re-built colour case hardened breeches (Most probably by the makers) engraved with foliage. Sighted colour case hardened tangs engraved with foliage. Signed colour hardened locks with bevel edges, engraved dolphin hammers. Figured walnut fullstocks with chequered grips and spiral fluted pommels. Adjustable set triggers. Charcoal blued triggerguards. The bows engraved with banners and terminating with pineapple finials. Charcoal blued ramrod pipes and original ramrods, one with worm, the other with thread for powder measure scoop. In their original mahogany case lined in green baize, the inside lid with H.W.Mortimer pictorial trade label. Accessories include a copper and brass powder flask, ball mould, loading/clearing rod and powder measure for ramrod. Both forends cracked, otherwise very crisp, Grade 2 Plus retaining most original finish. Brls.10".

Lot No. 659 A RARE 24 bore Prince's Patent Percussion Capping Breech Loading Carbine. Brown twist round two stage barrel cut with three wide groove rifling, folding multi aperture rearsight. The breech with London proofs and back handle protruding through a brass lined slot to facilitate loading. The standing breech with double lug locking pillar. The tang and the side plate engraved -Prince's Patent London-. Back action lock. Walnut half stock with brass furniture. The triggerguard with bolt safety catch. The forend barrel groove lined in brass and with two anti friction rollers. Pepper pitting to lock. Grade 3 plus. Brl.29.5 ins. The brass work and general appearance suggests this carbine was built for military purposes, probably a trial piece for the Navy.

Varnished walnut fullstock with chequered wrist and forend. Charcoal blued triggerguard (Engraved -Best-) butt plate and three bands. Original ramrod and two swivels. In its original oak case. The inside lid with Whitworth trade label. (Torn). Accessories include a leather covered rifle flask with white metal Patent top by Hawksley. The charger graduated 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3, 3.25 drams and with top cut-off. Correct brass bullet mould with ebony handle and spru cutter. Foresight and tang sight. Japanned tin of wax lubricators, hexagonal bullet packet (torn) and cap tins, etc. The rifle Grade One. Brl.33".
