The action having Holland & Hollands claw scope rings engraved and matching number to the rifle. Figured walnut halfstock with raised cheek piece to the right side, chequered grip and forend. Lot No. 773 A VERY RARE 80 bore Gilbys Patent double barrelled Percussion Capping Breech Loading Rifle Circa 1850. Re-browned twist barrels having dovetailed fore and rearsight and cut with multi groove rifling. The top flat engraved -Gilbys Patent-. Independent charcoal blued hinge-up spring loaded breech blocks engraved on the top -Gilbys Patent- and being released by sliding levers on the charcoal blued action forward of the locks. Colour case hardened back action locks, hammers and tang engraved with scroll foliage. Charcoal blued flat fronted triggerguard, floor plate and butt plate also engraved with foliage. Figured walnut halfstock having chequered wrist and forend. Horn forend cap. Grade 2 plus with much original colour hardening and charcoal blue. Brls.28.5 ins.

The chamber engraved -Turners Patent-. The rear straight pull bolt with brass obturator and broad fire blued top locking spring operated by a finger/thumb handle. The lock and hammer retaining all original colour case hardening. Figured walnut fullstock with colour case hardened triggerguard and butt plate. Single cross bolt and blued forward band. Colour case hardened forend cap, Original clearing rod with brass cap. Some very minor stock marks, otherwise incredibly Crisp and virtually Near New. Retaining all its original colour and charcoal blue. Brl.37 ins. NB. This rifle conforms to Thomas Turners Patent Number 2458 of 1864.

The signed locks nicely engraved with scroll foliage and spaniels putting-up partridge within a landscape. The scroll formed hammers engraved with foliage. The breeches engraved with foliage. The sighted tangs, hammers, locks, spur triggerguards and faceted caps engraved with foliage. Figured walnut leaf stocks with fluted grips and foliage carved forends. In their original mahogany case lined in green baize with padded inside lid. Accessories include ball mould, powder flask, unusual powder measure, RARE tooled brass cylindrical container with embossed top marked -50 Patent Wax Vestas Warranted-. Nipple key and turnscrew.
