Engraved dolphin hammers, charcoal blued engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials. Figured walnut fullstocks having chequered grips and charcoal blued belt hooks. Lot No. 588 A FINE QUALITY AND MOST UNUSUAL Pair of 40 bore Flintlock London made Pocket Pistols having rifled barrels. Circa 1790. Each round turn-off barrel cut with eight groove rifling and having external lugs for key. The breeches with London proofs. Each boxlock action nicely engraved with trophies and pheasant and -Lope Birm.m- within ovals. (This being the original owner). Throat hole cocks with safety bolts locking the frizzens. Each frizzen having twin rollers. Fire blued concealed triggers. Each slab sided walnut grip nicely inlaid with silver wire and vacant shield shaped escutcheons, Very Crisp. Near Grade 1. Still retaining some original colour case hardening. Brls.2.5 ins.
