Colour case hardened action and lever. Blued bolt and loading port. Walnut stock and forend, crescent butt plate and full length magazine. Grade 2 plus with much original colour and blue. Lot No. 584 AN EXTREMELY RARE AND HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT .303 Cal. Godsal Patent Bolt Action Rifle. Serial No.30 (Matching). Blue round tapered barrel with raised foresight and two raised rearsight blocks. Conical breech. Travelling block (or bolt) is in three parts, removal is achieved by depressing the catch at the rear of the butt, walnut halfstock of bull-pup design. Some staining and minor stock bruising. Otherwise Grade 2. Brl.25 ins.

NB: During the 1880s The British War Office was looking for an alternative to the Martini-Henry. The Godsal being one submitted for trials. Major P.T.Godsal designed and drew up plans for his bolt action rifle. His first Prototype was manufactured by a skilled mechanic. The later ones made by Webley & Scott. It took some 20 years to establish a secure bolt system but by this time the Lee Metford was in use therefore the Godsal type was never accepted. FAA Category:S1

Re-blued octagonal barrel having dovetailed foresight and four leaf rearsight on the engine turn top flat. The angle flats engraved - Holland & Holland 98 New Bond St. London -. Scroll engraved action with gold "Safe" lever. Left side lever opening. Figured walnut halfstock with chequered pistol grip and forend. Horn forend gap. Minor staining to action. Grade 2. Brl 28"

Lot No. 609 A very well made copy over a wheel-lock belt pistol. Octagonal barrel with swamp to the muzzle. The lock with pierced wheel cover and sliding pan cover. Engraved "Dog" with external spring. The steel stock engraved with serpents and foliage with stippled background. Chiselled belt hook and engraved globular hinged butt cap. Together with its steel combination flask/ spanning tool. Grade 1. Touch-hole not drilled. Brl 9.75".

Lot No. 630 A FINE Victorian Court sword. The double edged blade etched with foliage. Down turned gilt brass guards applied oak leaves and crowned entwined -VR-. Wire bound grip with gilt brass knuckle guard and pommel. Gold braid strap. (Knot missing) leather scabbard (damaged) with gilt brass mounts with spare chape (original missing). An uncleaned sleeper well worth restoration. Grade 2. Bld.31".

Arms Co. Chicopee Falls-. Six shot floral engraved cylinder. The frame similarly engraved and marked -Maynards Patent Sep.22. 1845- on the tape primer cover. The triggerguard having cylinder release button. Ivory grips. In later case with powder flask. Some minor staining. Grade 2 plus. Brl.3 ins.

The octagonal barrel engraved - Address Col.Saml. Colt New York U.S. America -. And with London proofs and pivoted rammer. Six shot cylinder with officially ground-off scene. The frame marked - Colts Patent -. Brass triggerguard and back strap. Walnut grip having Enfield circular cartouche on the left. In its original Very Rare leather top flap holster with strap and belt loop. The pistol with some wear and pepper pitting, wedge screw missing. Grade 3. Brl 7.5".

Tranters Patent- oval stamp. Single spring hammer hold-off safety and arbour pin retaining spring. Double trigger and pivoted rammer. Chequered walnut grip with engraved butt cap having hinged trap cover. Grade 2 plus, retaining 92% original charcoal blue. Brl. 6.5".

Lot No. 641 A VERY RARE Possibly Prototype 38 bore Adams Model 1851 Dragoon Self Cocking Percussion Revolver devoid of any serial number. Charcoal blued octagonal barrel with dovetailed foresight and London proofs. Five shot cylinder, each chamber having London view and definitive proofs (as opposed to alternate). Charcoal blued frame engraved -Adam's Patent-. Without any numbering. Fire blued Adams Patent rammer, safety spring and arbour pin spring. Charcoal blued triggerguard. Chequered walnut grip with hinged trap cover. The frame barrel Etc. Retaining 98% original charcoal and fire blue. The cylinder with staining only. A Very Interesting Pistol. Brl 7".

The top strap engraved -Deane. Adams & Deane No.30 King William St.l. London Bridge-. Matching number colour case hardened five shot cylinder having engraved front and alternate London proofs. The charcoal blued frame engraved with foliage and - Adam's Patent No 15202R.-. Thumb screw arbour pin retainer, fire blued horizontal cylinder locking bolt and single spring hammer hold-off safety. Chequered walnut grip and engraved butt cap having hinged trap cover. Some minor scratches, triggerguard blue flaked. Otherwise Near Grade 1 retaining 97% original charcoal blue and colour case hardening. Brl 6".

Lot No. 643 A RARE 80 bore William Tranters Patent First Model Double Trigger Percussion Revolver. Charcoal blued octagonal barrel with dovetailed foresight and slightly rounded top strap engraved with foliage. Colour case hardened five shot cylinder having "Rope" engraved front. Charcoal blued frame with inverted "Y" shaped safety, curved arbour pin spring engraved with foliage and numbered -No.4723T-. The detachable rammer and double trigger having -W.Tranters Patent- oval stamp. Chequered walnut grip with engraved butt cap. Blueing flaked from triggerguard (As is normally the case). The barrel and frame retaining 90% original charcoal blue. Grade 2 plus. Brl.4.25". NB. First Model Tranters retaining more than 50% finish are very hard to find,especially uncased ones.

Lot No. 644 A VERY GOOD 60 bore Transitional Percussion Revolver by Witton, Daw & Co. Round octagonal barrel signed -Witton Daw & Co 57 Threadneedle St. London-. and cut with multi groove rifling. Dovetailed silver foresight and iron rearsight. Fluted six shot reciprocating gas seal cylinder with London proofs and numbered 1 through 6. Rounded frame and shield engraved with best quality scroll foliage. Off-set "Fish Scale" dolphin hammer. Finely chequered walnut grip with butt cap having engraved hinged trap. Very Crisp retaining much colour turning brown. Grade 2 plus. Brl.6 ins.

Lot No. 645 A CASED 60 bore Percussion Transitional Revolver by N.W. Hanson of Doncaster. Charcoal blued octagonal barrel with multi groove rifling. The top flat with dovetailed fore and rearsight and engraved - N.W. Hanson. Improved Doncaster- Reciprocating gas seal six shot case hardened cylinder having London proofs. The rounded action, tang, dolphin hammer engraved with scroll foliage. Finely chequered walnut grip with engraved butt cap. In its original mahogany case lined in green baize. Accessories include, a fine bag shaped powder flask with much lacquer, brass bullet/ball mould. Turn screw and rosewood clearing rod (top missing). The pistol with scattered rust specking otherwise crisp. Grade 2 plus. Brl 6".

Lot No. 648 A FINE QUALITY German 32 bore Percussion converted Silver Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistol Circa 1770. By William Lindenschmidt in Mainz. Round acid etched Turkish damascened barrel chiselled with foliage and with gold and silver flowers. The rounded lock signed in full within a gold riband. Figured walnut fullstock with moulded beading, foliage, teardrops and apron carved with flowerhead, ivory forend cap. Silver furniture includes foliage engraved butt cap with long "Ears". Similarly engraved triggerguard with front "Post" and acorn finial, embossed side plate. Oval escuchteon and two ramrod pipes. Ebony ramrod with ivory tip. Single crack to forend, otherwise crisp. Grade 2 plus. Brl.10 ins.

The colour case hardened patent actions and tangs engraved with best quality scroll foliage and - Riviere Patent 241 and 242- Respectively. Colour case hardened dolphin hammers. Figured walnut halfstocks with chequered grips. Charcoal blued spur triggerguards engraved with trophies. Colour hardened floor plates having stylised finials. Rosewood ramrods with brass capped worms and horn tops. In their oak case lined in green baize. The inside lid having Rivieres trade label. Lot No. 650 A VERY RARE German double barrelled Percussion Sword Pistol Circa 1840. The double edge spear point blade having central fuller on each side. The crossguard mounted with a 60 bore barrel either side. The top part of each crossguard acting as the hammer to fire the respective barrel. Grooved brass grip with trophy embossed pommel. Double folding triggers. In its original leather scabbard with brass chape and locket. Some staining and minor age pitting, Grade 3 plus. Brls 4.75". Bld 14".

Lot No. 651 A RARE Pair of 100 bore Superimposed Load Percussion Pistols Circa 1850. Each browned octagonal barrel with dovetailed fore and rearsight and cut with multi groove rifling. Each flat chiselled with panels and foliage. The top flat -Acer Fondu-. Each floral chiselled breech having two nipples one for each charge. The actions, hammers, tangs and triggerguards similarly chiselled in low releaf, adjustably triggers. Highly figured walnut half stocks having foliage carved grips and horn caps. Lot No. 656 A RARE Scottish 26 bore all steel flintlock Belt Pistol Circa 1770 by T.Murdoch of Doune. The barrel of typical form with swamped octagonal muzzle, round central section and straight fluted breech all engraved with foliage. Signed lock and all-steel stock engraved with scrolls. Ball trigger, "Rams Horn" butt cap having ball pricker. The spiral engraved belt hook with pierced chiselled back plate. Shaped steel ramrod. Some staining otherwise Grade 3 plus. Brl.8 ins.

Lot No. 657 A VERY RARE Russian 30 bore over and under Holster Pistol made at the Tula Arsenal Circa 1780. Each round tapered barrel of wire twist form with raised narrow rib. The breech part chiselled with curved strap work. The lock having external main spring and inlaid in gold -Tula- (In Cyrillic). The tail chiselled with a leaf on a gold background. The swan necked cock similarly chiselled. Gold lined pan sliding rearward to fire the lower barrel. Walnut fullstock with iron furniture. The butt cap having long "Ears" and engraved with scrolls and gold inlay. Some minor staining. Grade 3 plus. Brl.15 ins.

Dovetailed foresight and three folding platinum lined leaf rearsight. The top flat engraved -John Blissett 322 High Holborn London- within a cartouche having scroll finials. Engraved break-off. The signed bolted lock, dolphin hammer and tang engraved with best scroll foliage. The patchbox similarly engraved and with lion in a landscape.
