The curved rearsight with locking thumb screw and Austrian Eagle, hinge-up breech. The tang marked -LW-. The lock dated -860-(1860) and Eagle at the tail. Walnut fullstock and original clearing rod. The metalwork very crisp. The bore Grade 1. The stock bruised half way down the forend. Near Grade 2. Brl.25 ins. Wanzl short rifles or carbines were issued to the Artillary and some Cavalry units and are considerably more scarce than the full rifle even more so in this condition.

Foliage engraved tang having circle notched rearsight with curved shoulders. The back action lock signed -Joseph Hollis- and engraved together with the dolphin hammer with foliage. Adjustable set trigger walnut halfstock with 'saw handle', chequered grip. The white metal furniture includes :- engraved spur triggerguard with pineapple final. Oval escutceon, forend cap and throat pipe Etc. Ram rod worn and butt cap band missing. Grade 3 plus, A sleeper. Brl 10.5'. NB. The barrel length and acid etching suggest this pistol was most probably made for the Irish market.
