DEACTIVATED WEAPONS
Lot No. 526 A Russian Model 1910 Maxim Machine Gun. Serial No.118. Research via the Pattern Room shows it to have been made at the Tula Arsenal aroun d 1937. Mounted on the standard Sokolov wheeled mounting (Dated 1915) and issued to the Red Army, the gun was captured by the Finns during the Russo-Finnish conflict in 1941. It was then taken to the Asevarikko Arms Depot No.1 at Helsingissa, rebuilt, and most of the Russian markings erased. The sights were also changed from the Russian 'arshins' to metres, and the gun was re-numbered 301 for the Finnish service and a compartment for a spare lock added to the carriage. A Deactivation Certificate and a letter from the Pattern Room confirming the history, accompany this lot.

Each case hardened break-off having platinum line, platinum poincon -Manton & Son London- and with crown. Vented platinum plugs. Each tang with 'V' notched rearsight and deeply engraved with trophies and foliage. Each colour case hardened lock signed -Manton & Son Patent-. Tang safety bolts and engraved together with the dolphin hammers with foliage and mythical monsters. Figured walnut halfstocks having chequered grips and horn forend caps. Charcoal blued triggerguard each bow engraved with trophies and -6128-. The floor plate with pineapple finials. In their period mahogany case lined in burgundy with padded inside lid.
